This pair of papier-Mâché sculptures functions as a sharp social satire on the contemporary obsession with self-image, vanity, and the relentless pursuit of status and approval.

The work employs a naïf aesthetic and humorous exaggeration to expose the artificiality of a culture that turns life into a constant performance, where form is valued over substance.

Elements and Critique:

The couple is adorned with vibrant polka-dot clothing and show accessories (top hats, cape), which the artist uses to represent the exaggerated fantasy and ridiculous disguise adopted by those seeking attention. This attire symbolizes the pretension and lack of seriousness in behavior that becomes obsessed with status.

Bodily exposure is central to the critique: the female figure, who displays her breasts, and the male figure, who exposes his genitals, symbolize the lack of boundaries and the raw, superficial exposure of intimacy that has become the norm for gaining visibility. The contrast between the caricatured bodies and the stage costume accentuates vanity and the desperate scramble for attention.

In essence, the artwork uses the simplicity of papier-mâché to create expressive figures that denounce the futility, superficiality, and empty content of a society focused solely on the visual spectacle to feel important.
